Outdoor Burning Prohibited Beginning July 1, 2022
Posted on Jun 30th, 2022
In accordance with Boise County Outdoor Burning Ordinance 2017-01, all outdoor burning is prohibited from July 1 to October 20 except for campfires or fires within an approved fire structure. This period is known as “County Closed Season,” and the ordinance further restricts open burning in Boise County from state law.
Recreational/campfires are allowed year-round unless fire restricts (see below) are put in effect by the state and federal agencies. During County Closed Season, recreational fires:
- Must be kept to a manageable size of 3 feet in diameter and 2 feet in height or smaller.
- Must be located an area free of combustible debris or structures that is 50 feet in circumference.
- Must be attended by at least one adult until completely out.
Keep in mind that at any time of year, you may be held criminally or financially liable for any escaped fire you start, so please understand and follow the rules; their intent is to prevent wildfires.
